SHOULD (E)SCAPE GOAT OR GO-AT GOAT.....

It is the story of a village where the life of the people revolved and perhaps still revolves
Only around “DURGA PUJA” and “KAALI PUJA”. There was a lad of the village who,
Like other villagers was also always eager to be present in Puja and the only thing he used to see in the academic calendar is the no. of holidays in Puja in that very year.

Like all years, this year too, he went to Puja and worked merrily for 2-3 days until he was assigned a task which he always tried to avoid. One of his elder brother had promised Durgaa Maa of a “paatha-bali” in a nearby village if he get a baby. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for the goat, he got one this time.

It was for the 1st time that the boy got the live example where the proverb & the real word
Both carried the same meaning, the word being “Scape-goat”. The proverb meaning says an innocent being convicted just to save someone or please someone. And what can be the best irony if the goat itself is being made the scape-goat .

After reaching that village, he could see no of goats the aggregate of which by far must have exceeded the no of books he would have seen in his college library. Like all others there, he too was taking that creature to death. They say only humans have the ability to think & feel; but somewhere inside the boy felt that the goat knew it was going to die & that boy was driving that poor creature to death. And who was animal at that time!!!!!!!at least he couldn’t figure out. The only thing which came to his mind was; does Durgaa maa really need this sacrifice to please herself or the goat is just a scape-goat. Till he could hardly give a thought over that, the goat had become a “Scape Goat”.

While returning to home, when he was still analyzing that whether he did was a thing to boast onn or an act of utter guilt; his family members acknowledged his work and praised him that now he has become the real son of the so called “Royal Singh Family”. But, he is perhaps still in doubt that whether he should have(E)scaped the goat so that no scape goat of that creature would have occurred.
